We are doing another fun giveaway here on CowgirlDiary.com! Up for grabs is a paperback copy of the first book in the Plaid Family Adventures Series, titled “The Runaway Horse”. These are delightfully fun books for young readers with stories about life on a Wisconsin farm. I was given a copy of “The Runaway Horse” by the author, to review and feature as a giveaway to one of my blog readers.
My kids love this book! I have a nine year old, six year old, and a two year old who love to read, and they especially love any story that has to do with horses. This story is set on a rural farm, with a close-knit family and centers around the adventures of life with farm animals. The reading requirement is at about second or third grade level, but is perfect for parents to read aloud to younger children, and the story is enjoyable for people of all ages. This particular tale is about a mischeivous horse and an eight-year-old farm boy who get into some trouble in the town of Plaidsville. The family dialogue and themes of hard work, responsibility, and forgiveness make this story a great choice for reading to kids.
The author, Michelle Tomars, is a natural horsemanship trainer from Wisconsin with a bachelor’s degree in Equine Science. The books are illustrated with vivid watercolor paintings by her father, John Tomars.
