I’m not big on New Year’s Resolutions. Personally, I would rather be honest with myself and not make any outlandish, pie-in-the-sky claims to change immediately or “from now on”. Why set myself up to fail? But I like having an idea, mulling on it, letting it grow, see where it leads, and eventually following through with it. And like a true procrastinator, why should I be in any hurry about it? If it doesn’t ever get followed through with, then it probably wasn’t that good of an idea after all. That being said, I do have a few dreams and wishes for the new year.
1. Blog more!
I really would like to inspire others through my blog, and be inspired myself. I’ve been reading other horse blogs and have put together a list (see the right sidebar of CowgirlDiary.com under the heading “More Horse Blogs”) of fifteen of my favorite horse riding blogs. I have looked around online, and discovered there are “fashion” blogs about horses, and then there are “riding” blogs about horses. I tend to gravitate towards the riding blogs! I love personal stories and photos, and insight from daily life with horses. So check out some of the writers who are an inspiration to me, and if you’d like your blog included in my list, send me a message.
2. Ride more!
This plan is currently on hold, since I’m almost five months pregnant with our fourth child. But I rode last September with my friend JoAnn, and we met other riders on the trail who invited us to other horse events. It is so exciting to get together with a few like-minded horse enthusiasts and enjoy your horses and some time outdoors. When May gets here (and our baby arrives), I am looking forward to riding our recently-trained colts, and getting my husband and older kids more enthused about spending time horseback with me.
And that’s it! I kept my list simple. The beginning of this year, though starting out cold, foggy, and snowy, is a great time to reflect back on last year and make big plans for the future. I can’t wait for warmer weather and more time to go riding! Here’s a picture of our herd from last summer:
