Leather Honey

Leather HoneyI got a really cool gift in the mail last week!  It was a free sample of Leather Honey that the manufacturer wanted me to try out and see if I liked.  I was happy to oblige because I have so much leather that needs cleaned!  I planned to clean my saddle, favorite belt, boots, and then start on my husband’s saddle.  There are so many uses for this kind of product, and it was great to receive a complete set of Leather Honey cleaner, conditioner, and polishing cloths.

I decided to begin with the item that was in the worst shape:  my old pair of cowboy boots that I’ve had since tenth grade and am still wearing to this day.  As far as I can recall, I’ve never cleaned them or polished them.  They’re Laredo brand and I honestly don’t remember where I got them or what they cost, but it was probably at the farm supply store back home.  So they’re in bad shape from the years of wear and tear.

I scrubbed them to get the horse residue off first, and then used a spray bottle with the Leather Honey cleaner diluted with water.  The Leather Honey set came with two polishing cloths to rub the leather with.  After you put the cleaner solution on and polish them, you let them set until they dry.  Then follow it up with the Leather Honey conditioner.  The conditioner was very similar in consistency to honey (a thick clear lotion with substance, but not sticky).  The boots turned darker and more supple.

I let them dry overnight, and was very pleased with the results.  Here’s the before and after shots:Leather Conditioner for Boots

So then I cleaned my husband’s old work boots, which were also in dire need of conditioning!  Here’s how they turned out:Leather Cleaner for Cowboy Boots

My son is begging me to clean his little cowboy boots next, and I will follow that up with treating my saddle.  If you’re looking for a good leather cleaner, this is a really great product.  The Leather Honey website shows it can be used on any kind of leather product, including purses, coats, shoes, and such, as well as equestrian products.  There are many more before/after photos on their website as well.

When I get my saddle cleaned, I’ll share a photo!
