I have become a horse collector, evidently. There are five of them in my corral, and I simply cannot turn down the chance to add another to my collection. My most recent addition came all the way from Idaho, a gift from my little sister. She’s a pretty blue roan mare named Bluebird, and I am so excited about the prospect of having a new horse to train. I’m heading out to visit the Idaho ranch soon, and decided to surprise my cowgirl sister with a gift in return, so I found a beautifully framed horse print that I know she’ll love.
My sister was the last of seven kids, and the fourth girl to grow up learning the horse-crazy trends of her older sisters. Our oldest sister collected horse art, and plastered her room with old calendar page pictures of horses. I remember her closet doors were lined like a high school locker, and every single picture was a horse photo! That is how we grew up, loving horses, and loving horse art.
So when choosing a gift for my little sister, I looked through several hundred pictures before I found the perfect one. FulcrumGallery.com had a wide selection of cowgirl art, and I liked how their website made it easy to search for exactly the kind of picture I wanted. I liked the idea of a wild horse, or a free horse, standing in the sunset or silhouetted against the sky. Once I chose the photo, I could “try on” different colors of mats, change the size of the mat, and also choose which frame looked best. I picked a photograph of a wild mustang by Tony Stromberg. I think the mustang horse will appeal to my sister, since they live near BLM ground where mustangs still run wild.
The package came last week, and the kids and I were excited to see how it looked. It was prettier in person than on the website. I love the freeze brand on the horse’s neck!
The back was already securely wired for hanging, and there was even a little package with a nail and hook to put in the wall:
This sticker on the back verified the quality of the piece:
I wrapped this back up carefully, and it will make the trip to Idaho with us. It’s so exciting to have a surprise in store for my sister, and I know she will love it. It will join the clippings from the Quarter Horse Journal, horse calendar pages, and even some of my own drawings on the walls of her room. I would definitely recommend Fulcrum Gallery if you’re looking for a gift for a horse enthusiast, or just some horse art work for your own home or office.
